Leading on Cyanobacteria Mitigation
One of only two State Representatives appointed to the Cyanobacteria Mitigation Loan and Grant Fund Task Force, John is identifying long-term funding solutions. He works across party lines to move this stalled issue forward.
Pesticide protections
John was the prime sponsor of legislation restricting neonicotinoid pesticides that can contaminate our lakes through runoff.
Addressing Treated Seed
He is addressing neonicotinoid-treated corn and soybean seed, a documented pathway of persistent pesticides into our waterways.
Lake Water Quality
A co-sponsor of legislation prohibiting intentional disposal of yard waste into surface waters to reduce unnecessary nutrient loading.
Shoreland Protection
He supported stronger enforcement of the Shoreland Protection Act, safeguarding natural buffers so crucial for water quality.

2026
NEONICOTINOID PROTECTIONS NEAR THE FINISH LINE
John was the prime sponsor of HB 1431, bipartisan legislation restricting neonicotinoid pesticides. After years of stalled efforts in New Hampshire, the issue advanced farther than it has in a decade.
The House passed the measure, and the state is now moving forward with proposed pesticide rules and a public hearing.
John continues working to see these protections through to completion.

A LONG-TERM RESPONSE TO CYANOBACTERIA
John co-sponsored SB 598, now law, creating the Cyanobacteria Mitigation Loan and Grant Fund Task Force.
This task force will identify a sustainable source of funding to help New Hampshire address harmful cyanobacteria blooms in our lakes.

ADDRESSING PESTICIDE-TREATED SEED
John was the prime sponsor of HB 1086, addressing neonicotinoid-treated corn and soy seed.
The House advanced an amended study measure, and John plans to reintroduce this important legislation in the 2027 session.

John’s 30-year career in law enforcement, including service with Marine Patrol and as a State Police detective, gave him firsthand experience keeping families and communities safe.
